House Progress 2
I am amazed at our house progress since construction began. The foundation was only poured two weeks ago, and it feels like we have already come a long way--there are even windows and a roof! When I was in San Diego, I requested that my husband stop by at least once, because I didn't want to miss the progress. Every day it seems like they are leaps ahead from the day before.
With the finish date looming over us at about three months from now, I have taken to ordering furniture and picking up some other furniture, rugs, and the like. My new favorite motto is: "it takes the same amount of time for furniture to be delivered as to build a whole house" (we have been quoted 12-16 weeks on certain items). Our small apartment storage unit can't hold all of our stuff to begin with, so now our spare bedroom is overflowing with house purchases and old boxes rendering it another storage unit in itself. I guess we will figure out a solution next time we have guests-but for now I just close my eyes whenever I walk by the room!
Limestone Heritage
One of Malta’s greatest natural resources is the distinctive limestone out of which the vast majority of its buildings are constructed. The honeycomb colour of the stones tint Maltese structures with their unique shades of yellow that change subtly according to the time of day and the force of the sunlight. Malta’s very first Megalithic temples, the imposing fortresses built by the Knights of St John, the towering village churches, and the modern-day five-star resorts are all built from limestone extracted from Maltese quarries.
If you would like to learn more about Maltese limestone and Malta’s architectural history, there is no better place to start than at the Limestone Heritage. This place is particularly useful if you’re feeling somewhat overwhelmed by the sheer volume of noteworthy buildings and don’t know where to start, as the Limestone Heritage provides a comprehensive background for many of Malta’s finest structural attractions, such as the Silent City of Mdina, the Mosta Dome, or the many prehistoric temples that dot the archipelago.
Situated on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Siggiewi, the Limestone Heritage is an impressive exhibition built within a disused quarry. There you’ll glimpse into 5,000 years of history, starting with Malta’s earliest freestanding structures that predate the pyramids of Giza as well as Stonehenge. A walk-through tour on what used to be the seabed 20 million years ago will display fossils still embedded within the rock and antique quarrying methods, including vintage vehicles and machinery as well as rare and original artefacts. Apart from the open-air displays, visitors can also witness exquisite stonework being created in the adjoining indoor complex. The permanent exhibition is accompanied by an ongoing programme of temporary exhibits.
The Limestone Heritage has easy access for people with special needs and also features a cafeteria and a gift shop
Food Lovers Paradise
I love food. And South Korea has not let me down. Here are a few of the yummy things I have tried here.
1. Street Food -- of course! I always try the street food, as it is usually cheap, fast and what the locals eat!
2. Fresh Food Markets. There are so many of these, and they are so fun to walk around! However, my favorite experience was when we found a weird shellfish (previously mentioned here and photo below) which we wanted to see the inside of. A fisherman obliged us, cut one open and gave it to us raw, right then and there!
3. Next we have...of course. Kimchi. It comes in many shapes and sizes and colors. They put each one in a separate bowl. I love it!
4. Last but NOT least, all you can eat, Korean MEAT BBQ. Actually they have potatoes and rice and veggies and kimchi (of course). But mostly it is meat. There are about 30 different kinds, you pick it out, pile it on a plate and cook it yourself at your table.
Anyway, I am not getting any skinnier, that is for sure! But I am happy!

Huang Feihong was a great Chinese kungfu master. Huang Feihong Kungfu Museum is located at his native residence, Luzhou village, at the foot of Mount Xiqiao of Nanhai, with a total area of 5.23 mu.
Huang Feihong has been a jianghu hero in the modern Chinese history, leaving behind
a lot of legendary stories. About 100 films have been made about his heroic deeds and over 40 Huang Feihong wushu coaching schools have been set up in the different parts of the world, teaching Chinese kungfu.
This Museum followed the architectural style of late Qing Dynasty,
presenting a distinctive construction pattern. Huang Feihong Shiyi Wushu Museum was built in 1996, with the aim to carry forward Huang Feihong's Wushu and medical ethics. The Museum is divided into Huang's native residence, screen and video room for displaying Huang's activities, Baozhilin Dispensary, acupuncture and Tuina room, orthopaedics clinic, herbal medicine clinic, Guan Dexing memorial hall.
The interesting entertainments include the statue booth of "ten Wushu masters of Guangdong province" and Huang Feihong Park as well as traditional performances such as kungfu, "dragon-playing" and "lion-playing" ,etc., which will be performed from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm every day. All these performances are attractive to many domestic and overseas tourists. Furthermore, there are Huang Feihong screen and video town, Huang Feihong Wushu school and Huang Feihong Wushu village.
About one hundred movies and teleplays concerning Huang Feihong have been filmed in Guangdong province, Hong Kong and Macao since half a century ago, of which 77 movies and teleplays acted and filmed by Guan Dexing, a late well-known actor of Hong Kong. Some of the well-known Chinese Wushu stars such as Li Lianjie and Zhao Wenzhuo, etc, have been Huang's image-builders for showing his elegant demeanor again. Huang Feihong is a revered Wushu master and famous both at home and abroad.
