J & J ARTWORKS GALLERY IN TALA SQUARE.

A unique and brand new Gallery opened in 2017 on the beautifully rebuilt square in the centre of the old village, in front of a colourful fountain and between the many great bars and restaurants, with a wonderful community atmosphere.

Open Tuesday to Saturday, 1pm to 11pm.

The owners Joep and Johanna are proud to have their own gallery and studio now in this lovely village of Tala.  J & J Art Works gallery will have continuous exhibitions of a collection of Joep’s recent paintings and Johanna’s handmade jewellery and mosaics are displayed, where a warm welcome awaits you.

J & J Art Works will also have a stunning selection of essential oils and candles.

A framing service is also available and there is a selection of popular frames and styles in the Gallery for you to see.

About Joep’s work.

Joep uses bold colours and paint with dynamic broad brush strokes, he gives the paintings a freshness and simplicity that leaves the viewer enough room to use his imagination for interpretation.

Joep started to paint 20 years ago and is entirely self-taught. With his ‘exuberant’ desire to create his images, he has developed a unique style which is instantly recognisable as the artist’s. The simplicity of the abstract designs characterises Joep’s paintings which he has exhibited in many locations in his native Holland and here on the island. Joep is renowned in the art scene. His paintings are all over the world. In Cyprus he has sold his work to the Dutch Embassy, the International school, the Town Hall of Paphos and many private collectors. He also designed wine-labels for “the Art Collection” collaborating with the Tsangarides Winery in Lemona.  Many also know Joep as one of the DJ’s on Radio Rock FM. He also is one of the founders of www.Klickeasy.com a successful website in Cyprus.

About Johanna’s work.

She is also from Holland and arrived on the island 23 years ago. She worked many years in the travel industry and 8 years ago she started making and selling Jewellery; Johanna is using many kinds of materials and specialises in creating bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and clever gift ideas.

Materials used for example: Swarovski crystals, semi-precious gemstones.

She also designs and makes colourful mosaics to order.

Both artists live in Tala centre.

Photoshop/Computer Lessons in Tala with Kit from Your Pictures 2 Canvas

Specialist in beginner tuition where patient, clear and friendly instruction in a relaxed atmosphere is paramount. The weekly lessons take place at our studio in Tala by arrangement or at Kouklia Art & Craft Centre Monday afternoons. The lessons cost €25 for two hours of one to one tuition or if you can share the lesson with someone who is at the same level of skill as yourself the cost is €15 each for two hours tuition. Refreshments included. You would bring your laptop with Photoshop (only if that's what you want to learn) already installed. If you don't have this I might be able to help, just let me know in advance. I can also offer tuition in other programmes by arrangement.

My aim is to teach people what they need to know to develop the necessary skills in whatever area they desire rather than go through a standard procedure. So, if your aim is to enhance photographs, develop advanced card making skills, improve in desktop publishing or to reproduce your art in digital form then I can help. PRIVATELY RUN GARDEN WASTE SITE IN TALA

A new privately run garden waste site will commence in Tala wef 13 September 2014. This site has a solid waste management licence no 2.12.48.639.3.  The site is approximately 2km from Tala Square, near to the site of the proposed new cemetery [see map ].

A 'Home collection' service can be offered for an additional fee, depending on the volume of waste for collection:

a] Double cabin truck      €5

b] Single cabin truck       €7

c] Pick-up truck              €15

d] Tipper truck  8 x 4      €25

For waste taken directly to the site, a small charge will be made.   Some indicative charges are:

- TVs, washing machines and fridges                                €Free of charge

- Any wooden material [sofas, tables, beds, etc]                From €5 to €10

- For each plastic bag of waste                                         €1 for 1^stbag and €0.50 for each additional one

All waste can be taken apart from building materials.

JOEP [ARTIST]

Well known painter, born in 1951 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and now resident in Tala Cyprus. His career has always been within the music and film environment, in The Netherlands as well as abroad. 

Joep has been painting for 20 years and is entirely self-taught. With his inexorable desire to create his images, he has developed a unique style which is instantly recognisable as the artist’s signature. The paintings are mainly abstract and generally portray images set in a group with particular emphasis given to their surroundings.

The paintings summon the observer to use their powers of imagination to explore and interpret the meaning behind each individual canvas. Oils and acrylic resin are used on a linen canvas thus creating dynamic and intense colours.  The simplicity of the abstract designs identifies Joep’s own particularly unique style which he has exhibited in many locations in his native Holland, which are renowned on the art circuit in the Netherlands.

Joep designed wine-labels for “the Art Collection” collaborating with the Tsangarides Winery in Lemona.

His art can be seen in Cyprus at the Dutch Embassy, the International school and the Town Hall of Paphos .Those venues have all purchased paintings. You can also see Joep’s fine display of paintings in our environment and of course at his home and shop in Tala where he creates his art and special commissions.
