ANIMAL PARTY - OUT OF COURT AND SOCIAL WORK PENALTIES

The President of the Cyprus Animal Party and officials of the Central Committee will have a formal meeting with Justice Minister Emily Yolitis on Monday 21/9/2020 at 11 a.m. in the Minister's office.

According to a statement from the Animal Party, the following are the topics to be discussed:

•Creation of an In-Police (Animal Police) Department on Animal Welfare and Protection (Dec 2017 the relevant bill is in the House and expects to be debated in the relevant parliamentary committee)

•Adjustment of penalties for animal abuse

•Implementation of the system of extrajudicial

•Proposal for those imprisoned to serve a sentence that turns into a sentence of social work (in shelters or other work, always on the subject of animal welfare and protection) and always the choice with strict criteria and strict procedures.

•Proposal for temporary adoption of animals by prisoners. Care etc until a foster family is found. The hospitality to be checked by the shelter's operators that it is done properly.

•Training and enlightenment of all public prosecutors (Lawyers, Judges) on all matters of animal welfare and protection (legislation, implementation, and handling by the courts)

•Special programme for the enlightenment and information of police officers, officers within the programmes of the police academy.
