SCAM - Experience of a Tala resident

Various warnings have been posted about scams, but the following was an actual experience of a Tala resident:

'I have today received an email from a guy who has got hold of one of my passwords and contacts. He has threatened to release footage of me watching porn (how he has this I don’t know as I have never watched this) to my contact list unless I pay €3000 by bitcoin)

I will be reporting this to the police tomorrow.

The only time I have used the password recently is with setting up and using the new tax computerized system'.

The password has been changed.   The Police were sympathetic but advised there was little they could do.  The matter has been reported to Cyta.


Remember, do not give your passwords to anyone.   If anything of this nature happens to you, ignore the threat, change your password[s], advise the Police and your internet provider.
