Police announced on Sunday they would be launching a seat-belt campaign from Monday until November 27.
Some 54 per cent of road fatalities in 2015 were not wearing a seat belt. In the five years between 2010 and 2014 the figure was 66 per cent. During the upcoming campaign, special attention will be paid equally front and rear seat-belt compliance, police said, the latter which is much lower. Drivers will also be checked to make sure child seats are being used.
“The aim of the campaign is to make drivers and passengers more aware of the importance of belting up when they get into a car,” police said.
