[BILLBOARD] 16.08.16 BTS’ten Suga ‘Agust D’de Depresyondan & Şöhretin Bedellerinden Bahsediyor

Suga , Agust D’nin ana şarkısında güçlü bir ritim üstüne daha da güçlü bir rap yaparken “K-Pop kategorisine sığamayacak kadar büyük bedenim.” diyor.

BTS’teki grup arkadaşları ile birlikte KCON LA’de “Ateş” tükürmesinden sadece birkaç hafta sonra; Agust D, Suga’nın (Min Yoongi) kariyerinde çizdiği yolu ve yaşadığı zorlukları gün yüzüne çıkarıyor.(Ç.N: Ateş tükürmek, heyecanlı ve güçlü bir ruh halinde olmak anlamında kullanılan bir deyim. ‘Ateş’ kelimesini kullanarak şarkıları ‘FIRE’a gönderme yapmış.)Rapçi, Pazartesi günü (Kore’de Salı) yayınlanan ilk kasetinde kendinin ve K-pop endüstrisinin muhaliflerini ele aldı. Kendisi BTS’ten, Rap Monster’ın geçen sene yayınladığı RM’den sonra mixtape yayınlayan ikinci üye. 

Heyecanlı 10 parçalık Agust D doğrultusunda, Suga kariyerine yeni bir element ekledi ve BTS’in şarkı yapımında en aktif üyelerden biri olmasına rağmen, BTS ile yayınladığı şarkılardan çok farklı şeyler gösterdi. Bir K-pop idolü olarak kendini gizlemek ve eski kariyerine dikkat çekmek için mixtape'ini özellikle tersten okunduğunda doğduğu şehir “Daegu Town”u görebildiğimiz ‘Agust D’ adı altında yayınlandı. (Ç.N: Agust D, tersten ‘Dt suga’. D-town Suga olarak görebiliriz.)

Mixtape sizi havaya sokacak olan, Suga’nın başarısını güçlü bir şekilde ifade eden bir introyla başlıyor ve ana şarkı ‘Agust D’ ile devam ediyor. İki parça da James Brown’un “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” şarkısından kulağa güzel gelmesi için konulmuş parçalar içeriyor. (Agust D ayrıca Billboard’u en büyük hedeflerinden biri olarak gösteriyor.) “Give It to Me” ile devam ederken, onun başarısız olduğunu görmek isteyen insanlara saldırıyor, ilk kısmı bu şekilde olan mixtape 4. parça “skit”te biraz yavaşlıyor ve Suga dinleyiciye bunun onun müziği olduğunu, BTS’teki kimliğinden tamamen farklı olduğunu hatırlatıyor.

Agust D bu parçalardan sonra evini terk edip Seul’a giderek hayalinin peşinden koşmasını zorlaştıran depresyonun, OKB’nin (Ç.N: Anksiyete türü bir hastalık)ve sosyal fobisinin çiğ gerçekliğine geçiş yapıyor. İntiharın yaygın olduğu ve akıl sağlığı ile ilgilenmenin utanç verici bir şey olarak görüldüğü Kore’de bu kadar dürüst olmak alışılmadık bir şeyken, mixtape “The Last” ile devam ediyor, Suga’nın yardım arayışından bahsediyor ve idol olduğunu kabul edip pop endüstrisinin bir parçası olduğunu anlatıyor. Sıradaki parçası “Tony Montana”da ise beraber çalıştığı Yankie eşliğinde, bu sektörün bir parçası olmasının ve başarısının tehlikelerinden bahsediyor.

Kasetini “Dream, Reality” ve Koreli indie şarkıcısı Suran ile çalışması “So Far Away” bitiren Agust D, hayatın gerçekliği ile hayatın bir hayalden başka bir şey olmaması arasındaki çelişkiden bahsediyor ve dinleyicilerine her zaman hayal kurmalarını söylüyor.

Üzerinden bir kazanç sağlanmayacak olmasına rağmen Agust D, tamamen Suga tarafından yapıldı ve bu bilindiği gibi K-pop dünyasında alışıldık bir şey değil. Herkes için her yerde bedava yapılmasından sonra “AgustD” Twitter’da dünya gündemine girdi, “Agust D” için hazırlanan müzik videosu da çok büyük bir başarı göstererek YouTube üzerinde 12 saatte 1 milyondan fazla izlendi.

RENEWING YOUR DRIVING LICENCE IN CYPRUS - Sense of humour required!

If you are about to go through the pleasure of renewing your Cypriot driving licence, these stories may help you through the process.  Can I add please that most people have nothing but praise for the system -  and in the majority of cases they have their new licence without any hiccup!:

1  In the first case, the licence holder is in hospital.  His wife, therefore, got all the forms completed and armed with the documentation and photos, presented herself at the Citizens Advice Centre.   All the paperwork appeared in order but the photos were unacceptable as they had to be either with a white or blue background.

Armed with two replacement photos with an acceptable background, the lady returned the following day only to be told that there was a special form which must be completed by her husband authorising his wife to deal with the matter - and that all the paperwork must also now be counter-signed and stamped by the mukhtar!

After dropping in to see the mukhtar at home, a further visit was made to the Citizens Advice centre only to find that whilst all the paperwork was now in order the photos were unacceptable as her husband was wearing glasses!

So whilst photos can be taken at the Citizens Advice Bureau if you attend in person, please bear in mind that if you send your spouse to deal with renewal for you, any photo must have a white or blue background [and hopefully this does not change depending on which day of the week you go!] and you must not wear your specs in any photographs submitted.

2  In the second case, the licence holder presented herself at the Transport Department and eventually was handed a form, entirely in Greek.  Luckily there was a driving instructor nearby who helped with completion of the form.   The lady was then told that she needed to get her eyes, hearing and reflexes checked and would need to see a Pathologist.   This was questioned but the Transport Department were adamant that she had to go to the Pathologist and they pointed her in the direction of the Transport Department recommended one.  In trepidation, off she trotted, forms in hand.

After waiting for an hour, the licence holder finally came to see the Pathologist who then explained that Pathologist has a different meaning in Greek - it means 'qualified medical practitioner'.   Had she been aware of this before the photos were taken at the Transport Department, the image now captured on the driving licence might have been shown a happier person!

3 And the third case - At 70 I had to change from a Uk to a Cypriot driving licence, filled in all the forms, had the eye test and medical, was advised to apply 2 days before my birthday. obtained my temporary licence for 30 days and returned, full of hope 20 days later. The licence was ready!! "For how long is the licence?" I asked. " It has expired!." was the reply.  "BBBBBBut, why?"  "It is only for 2 days until your 70th birthday." "So, please may I have my temporary one back?"  "No."  "But why?"  "Because you now have a new licence." "BBBBut that has expired.'"  Yes!"

"I really need your help now please, because now I am driving without any licence. What do I have to do?" "You need to fill in a new application form, have a new eye test and obtain a new Doctor's certificate!"

Thanks to a lot of help from the Kamares Medical Centre Doctor, Nurse Tracey and the optician, I returned 3 hours later with all new documentation, was given another temporary driving licence and picked up my gleaming new 3 year licence 3 days early!

And your new plastic driving licence should be available for collection after 20 days [providing, of course, you have returned armed with the receipt from your earlier visit!].

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH SECURITY - PLEASE BE VIGILANT

Whilst things appear fairly quiet at the moment, during the last month there have been two break-ins in the area of Stephanie close to the Ecre building site and an attempted break-in in the Stylianou Leonida area [off the road to Kissonerga].

Please take note of strange vehicles or people in your area and contact the Police  if you see anything or anyone who should not be there.

As this is the main holiday period for residents on the island, please ensure that you lock up your property and vehicle when leaving them unattended.  Please do not leave valuables in view.

BREXIT & THE FINANCIAL EFFECT SO FAR - LUCIE ROBSON WOULD LIKE TO HEAR YOUR VIEWS

Following on from the Brexit vote in June, Lucie Robson of The Cyprus Weekly would like to hear from expats regarding the financial effect the decision has had on their pensions or general income as the value of sterling as decreased against the euro.

How do you feel about this, what are your views on what lies ahead in the immediate and mid-term future for the exchange rate in light of Brexit and are you likely to take any steps in local spending as a result?

Was anybody in Cyprus in 2008 when the currencies were nearly at parity and many expats reined in their spending or even left the island? If so, have they felt concerned about the sterling decrease or do they think it will level out?
