Relieve Your Muscle Pain With These 6 Steps

ByNeha A F

You may have tried exercising, but the next day you can't move due to muscle pain. You might decide to discontinue your exercise routine because of this. However, you don't have to do that because there is a way of relieving yourself of muscle pain.

Before we go to the relief, we need to know first the cause of muscle pain. You may feel pain in your muscles when they are overworked. It causes a breakdown of muscle fibers that result in the release of muscle cell content. The cells in turn attract inflammatory cells that release chemicals, which irritate the muscle fibers. So, should you stop exercising because of this? No, exercising is essential for strengthening your muscles. What you can do is to find ways of relieving your muscles and here they are:

Massage The Soreness Away: You can start by slowly massaging the sore area of your muscle. Then gradually increase the depth of the massage. It can be painful at first, but the massage will ease the soreness gradually. However, if the pain is too great, you can call professional massage therapists to massage your muscles.
Take A Hot Bath: Once you take a dip in the bathtub filled with warm water, it will circulate your blood creating a soothing effect on your muscles.
Flush The Soreness Away: You can run hot water (the hottest that you can bear) on the sore area of your muscles, and then quickly switch it with cold water. This will cause your blood vessel to open and close releasing the acid from your muscles and ease the soreness of it.
Gently Exercise Your Muscles: Start walking slowly, because this will improve your blood circulation. Good blood flow in the muscles will reduce the pain. Now that you know how to relieve muscle soreness, the next steps will to discuss how you can avoid having muscle pain.
Do Warm-up Exercises: Stretching before working out will improve the elasticity of your muscles, and it will also improve the blood circulation that will reduce the tensions in your muscles. Doing warm ups reduces the tendency of your muscles to be overworked, which reduces the chances of having muscle pain.
Stretch After A Workout: Stopping immediately after a workout will cause the blood flow to rapidly decrease. This will cause tension in your muscles. Do some stretching after workout to gradually decrease your blood circulation.

By doing these steps, there is a great chance to workout without experiencing muscle pain. Do the exercises in the proper way and you will avoid these problems, and don't overwork yourself.

Count Your Steps to a New Healthy You

It is so important to stay healthy or to get healthy if you have let yourself go. People seem to be so busy these days that fast food and quick frozen meals are becoming the norm and home cooked healthy meals are going by the wayside. The good news is that no matter how busy you are, you can get healthier by taking just a few steps that are quick and easy to do. The following are some tips to :

Less Fast/Junk Food - If you know you are having a busy day and your plan is to hit the nearest drive through when you get hungry, rethink this plan. Instead of hitting the fast food or grabbing a bag of chips, take a few minutes before you leave the house and pack a quick lunch and snack. Baby carrots are always a great snack and take no preparation time at all. Make a healthy sandwich using whole wheat bread, lettuce and turkey breast for a satisfying quick meal. In a week or two the changes in your health are noticeable, particularly if you are attempting to lose weight.
Take Walks/Walk Instead of Driving - Walking is one of the healthiest things you can do for your body. It is a low impact exercise so even those who are very much out of shape or overweight can take advantage of this health aid. If you have children or a dog, walk them for a few blocks each night. Even a half an hour is a great start and a great way to get the blood moving and to burn calories. Instead of driving to the corner market for milk, walk and pick up your groceries instead.
Never Limit Yourself - If you want a piece of chocolate or something salty, do not say no to yourself every single time. While there does need to be some commitment to living healthier, having a treat now and then is actually good for you. If you say no to yourself often enough, you may end up falling off the healthy wagon and end up back where you started. Treat yourself but do it in moderation if you really want success. Instead of an entire carton of ice cream, have a couple scoops and save the rest for the next time you get a sweet tooth.

All of the above added in together can make for a much healthier you. You do not have to go to the gym each and every day when walking is free and is good for you. Take the time to treat yourself but do not go overboard and the results show on your body and in your overall health.

The Downside To Walking 10,000 Steps A Day

Doctors and researchers have advised us to take a minimum of 10,000 steps per day to stay fit and healthy. Everyone always talks about the great benefits associated with these extra steps, but never about the downside. I bought a pedometer a few months ago and have reached my daily step goals on a consistent basis. Here are some of the negative side effects I have noticed.

1 - None of my clothes fit me anymore

Three months of walking did something strange: it caused all of my clothing to become way too big on me. Now I find myself needing to fork over hard-earned money to replace my wardrobe with smaller articles of clothing.

2- My waking shoes are actually getting worn out

I have a pair of shoes that I use for after dinner walks. These shoes have been with me for years with no troubles. Inexplicably, they are worn out and need to be replaced.

3 - I am missing out on some of my favorite TV shows

I find myself with so much extra energy that I don't want to sit in front of the TV for hours on end. I find myself at places like museums and farmers markets instead, while I miss more and more of the plot lines on my favorite shows.

4 - Junk food has lost much of its appeal

I just don't get the same amount of pleasure from downing an entire bag of chips at one sitting as I once did. Maybe that has something to do with #3, since I normally did my junk food eating on the couch in front of the TV. I actually found myself planting vegetables in my backyard the other day! This type of behavior was never part of my usual routine before I took up walking. The walking must be to blame. Now what will I do with all those healthy vegetables I grow?

5 - I'm meeting neighbors that I have lived near for years for the first time

People I have never met are being friendly to me and cheering me on. Strangers are becoming friends and they tell me how great I look now that I lost 20 pounds. This is just strange behavior that I have never encountered before I starting walking around my neighborhood.

6 -???

Ok, so I can't seem to come up with a sixth negative side effect. The truth is, I am very much enjoying all the healthy side effects of walking. I am amazed at how one healthy habit leads to another. Taking 10,000 steps per day is helpful by itself, but the true benefit lies in how it can lead to an all-around healthier life-style.
